What is Social Services?

Social services are services provided to ensure everyone's welfare, which is like their health, but different.

Social services cares for children whose parents are unable to care for them, either on a temporary basis or permanently.

It also looks after elderly people who can't look after themselves any more.

It provides opportunities for people with disabilities to learn new skills, and for people with learning difficulties to become more independent.

It is vital that these services are provided well, are of a high standard, and that there are enough of them to meet all the different needs.

The Council uses the experiences of people using the service, maybe people like you, to help plan to make the services better.
